Dirk M. Thompson, Sr.

Our Owner


Dirk M. Thompson, Sr. is a graduate of Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer with more than 40 years of experience assisting families during the time of sudden need. His career began as a staff member in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1994 he relocated to Hickory and built his own business, Dirk M. Thompson Mortuary. The facility is home to the Walter/Gladys Memorial Chapel, named after his wonderful parents.


Dirk attends Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church where he has served on several committees including Trustee, Administrative Council and United Methodist Men.


He is a member of Victory Lodge No. 745. Dirk is married to Carolyn Thompson and they are the proud parents of two beautiful children, Ariel and Dirk Malcolm II. Carolyn has completed studies at Fayetteville Technical Community College and earned a Funeral Service degree with honors. She will sit for the state boards later this year.
