Shirley Ann Geter Hossain was born on February 2, 1945, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to her beloved mother, Frances Geter, who preceded her in death.  Shirley peacefully entered eternal rest on August 21, 2026.

Throughout her life, Shirley made her home in Hickory, North Carolina; Spartanburg, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina.  Wherever life took her, she created memories and meaningful connections with those around her.

In addition to her mother, Frances Geter, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jasper O. Williams Jr.; her sister, Betty Jean Geter; and her brothers, Milton Geter, Charles Geter, James Geter, and Freddie Geter. 

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her son, Dion, Sr.; her granddaughter, Najaven Williams; her grandson, Dion, Jr.; her sister, Bessie Slater; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved her dearly.

Shirley will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and friends and for the memories she created throughout her life. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave will continue to live on through the generations.

Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we will find comfort in knowing that her journey here on earth is complete.  The memories she created, the love she shared, and the lives she touched will remain a lasting part of her legacy.  

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Walter Gladys Memorial Chapel at Dirk M. Thompson Mortuary with Pastor Peggy Geter officiating and Eulogist.  Visitation will occur 1 hour prior to the service at the Chapel.
