Mrs. Nettie Rose Odoms, the daughter of the late John and Rosie Lee Woods Goforth, was born on December 7, 1946 in Cleveland County, North Carolina.  She departed this earthly life at her residence following a lengthy illness on Thursday, September 30, 2021. She was 74 years, 9 months and 22 days old.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Plass Odoms, Sr.; brothers, Brodas Goforth, Jack Goforth and Roy Goforth; and sisters, Virginia Byrd and Clementine Surratt.

Left to cherish fond loving memories are her sons, Plass Odoms, Jr. and Christopher Eugene Odoms both of Hickory, North Carolina; a brother, Clyde Goforth of Shelby, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Frank Byrd of Hickory, North Carolina; a host of other relatives and friends.

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,

I'm following the path God had laid, you see.

I took His hand when I heard Him call,

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,

Tasks left undone must stay that way.

I've found peace at the close of the day.

If my passing has left a void

Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with time of sorrow,

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full; I've savored much –

Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seems all too brief.

Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.

God wanted me now.

He set me free.
