Obituary

Mr. Marcelle Black, Jr. was a gift given to the late Marcelle Black Sr. and Edna Harrison Black on March 11, 1949 in Seneca, South Carolina in Oconee County.  This precious gift was returned unexpectedly on May 23, 2021 as Marcelle entered eternal rest from his labor at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Black was a member of Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church where he served and chaired the Trustee Board.  A member of Masonic Victory Lodge #745 of Free Acceptance Masons, he also was inducted into the 32 degree of the Scottish Rites.

He served his country in the United States Army where he retired.  He also worked and retired from the City of Hickory.

Mr. Black loved his family and friends and especially his beautiful grand daughters who were his pride and joy.  He loved traveling, cooking and listening to music that included Motown, smooth jazz and gospel.

Mr. Black had a heart for giving to others.  He gave his time and resources to the youth of Hartzell, the Shriners and St. Jude.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Black.

Left to cherish fond loving and lasting memories are his son, Marcelle (Keshia) Black III of Hickory, North Carolina; the "apples of his eye", three granddaughters, Kiara, Malia and Kamryn Black all of Hickory, North Carolina; a former wife, Sheila Dula Black of Hickory, North Carolina; a brother, Stanley Black of Seneca, South Carolina; a sister Brenda Black (Gregory) Henderson of Seneca, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
