Celebration of Life
Ms. Lenora Phillips peacefully transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on May 24, 2024 following an extensive illness at the residence of her niece in Douglasville, Georgia. Lenora was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina on April 22, 1942 to the late J. Hugh and Virginia Geter Phillips. She was 82 years, 1 month and 2 days old.
She spent the early years of life in Lincoln and Cleveland County. She had a knack for crafting, cooking, canning, traveling and karate. Lenora did not see color, she saw equality and fairness in other people. She was
a friend to everyone no matter their status in life.
Lenora was a dedicated, hard worker for her entire life, and she took pride in every opportunity she was blessed with. She was employed for many years at Superior Cable which later became Siecor as a Quality
Control Technician where she later retired, only to pursue opening her own Beauty Supply store. After closing her store, she created Fruiti Plus, where she made and sold fried pies at the local farmers market.
Lenora was a devoted member of the Glendale Street Church of Christ where she served as Treasurer for many years and drove the transportation vehicle. She also cherished spreading her love for Christ with others by
picking up local children and bringing them to church on Wednesday evenings.
In addition to her parents J. Hugh Phillips and Virginia Geter Phillips, Lenora was preceded in death by sons, Johnny Frank Phillips and Franklin Darryl Phillips; brothers, Bob Phillips, James "J.K." Phillips and David Phillips; and sisters Margaret Phillips Wilson, Mary Ann Phillips, and Lena Bell Phillips.
Lenora meant so much to so many people. She was a loving mother, devoted sister, and adored aunt and friend.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sisters Geneva Phillips and Ruby Griggs both of Hickory North Carolina, and Peggy (Kent) Roberts of Shelby, North Carolina; brother Ralph (Caren) Phillips of Shelby, North Carolina; grandchildren Kenneth Thomas of Salisbury North Carolina and Sheila Thomas Meeks of Mooresville, North Carolina; great-granchildren Isaiah, Kordae Thomas, Anivea Thomas, Shiloh Thomas, Kashawn Thomas,
Heaven Ikard, Eden Meeks; goddaughter, Shannon B. Jenkins; and a host of other family and friends.
