The Life and Legacy of
Deacon Hosea Milligan, Sr.
Hosea Milligan, Sr. age 91, of Hickory, NC went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, North Carolina following a brief illness. He was born September 23, 1931 in Fulton County, Atlanta, Georgia to the late James and Daisy (Propst) Milligan.
He worked hard to support his children and family and was a long service employee of Century Furniture Company for more than fifty years, having driven over three million miles before retiring!
Hosea was not only a wonderful son, but a father who would always take time to talk with his children and grandchildren. He was a prayer warrior and exemplified his love for the Lord and in obedience to God's word, he imparted this same love throughout his relationships with family and loved ones.
He was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord and was well known in the Emanuel Pentecostal Church organization. He was a member of Jerusalem Holiness Church where he served as a Deacon and Trustee. Hosea was loved by his entire church family.
In addition to his parents, a number of relatives preceded him in death; his wife of 30 years, Annie Byers Milligan whose departure was on March 4, 2023; a daughter, Patricia Gail Milligan; and siblings, Martha, Esther, Samuel and Josephine. Hosea was the second youngest of his 6 siblings.
Hosea leaves to mourn his passing a son, Hosea Milligan, Jr., of Ohio; daughters, Shirley Milligan-Hoyle, Brenda Milligan, Esther Milligan (Gregory) Kirk, Paulette Milligan-Partridge and Mary Mosley all of Ohio; twin daughters, Belinda Clark, of the home and Melinda Ikard of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Joseph Dwayne, Yolanda Lacille, Marcus Dion, LaKiesha, David, Latosha, Paul, Gregory Jr., Brittany, Brandon and Marcus all of Ohio; along with Tecarla Ikard, Shekia Ikard, Septima Clark and Kaylon Ikard all of Hickory, NC; special grandson, Monkese Baker of Charlotte, NC; stepsons, Gary Baker of Charlotte, NC and Jimmy Ikard of Hickory, NC; step-daughters, Pamela Hull and Jackie Baker both of Charlotte, NC and Judy Ikard of Hickory, NC; twenty nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a sister, his youngest sibling, Conchitta Milligan Johnson of West Palm Beach, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended relatives, whom all loved and respected him.
