Ms. Gwendolyn Burnett Forney, 63, of Catawba, NC passed away peacefully while surrounded by her faithful family on November 1, 2022 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Catawba County, NC on December 27, 1958 to the late Walter and Pauline Connor Forney.  She graduated from Bandys High School in 1979 and spent many years employed as a cook in Catawba, NC and Fairfax County, Virginia.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter: LaShan Forney of Washington, DC;  two sons, Anthony Forney of Hickory, NC and Cory Forney of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Shykiem Forney (Washington, DC), Kyan Forney, Khorde Forney, Amauri Forney, Amiyah Forney, McKenna Forney and Courtlynn Forney of Hickory, NC and great-granddaughter, Katilena Parks of Newton, NC; two sisters, Janet Forney and Mary Forney of Newton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Gwendolyn is preceded in death by her sister Barbara Reid, brothers; Walter Forney Jr. and Jerry Forney.

Gwendolyn, a free spirit who always spoke her mind, held a steadfast love for her family. She was a devoted mother who was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren always trying her best to be present. She enjoyed hanging out with her sisters, cooking, making others laugh and being in the company of her large family (she never missed a cook-out). She passed on her humor and quick-wit to her family and leaves behind beautiful, loving memories that will last forever.
