Obituary

Frances E. Brown, affectionately known as "Kitty" was a cherished member of the Cochran family and a devoted singing evangelist, has departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of faith, music, and love that will be remembered by all who knew her.

From her earliest days, Frances's passion for music shone brightly. She sang with "Fame Francine" in a group called the Ebonetts at Sousa Jr. High School, where her talent and spirit uplifted those around her. Her groupmate, Francine, would later become the original "Peaches" of the renowned singing group Francine & Herb's. These formative experiences shaped Frances's lifelong love for sharing joy through song.

On August 18, 1993, Frances was united in marriage to Eugene Brown. Their bond was one of deep affection and mutual respect. Frances was a loving and faithful wife, proud to call Eugene her King—especially after the movie Life of a King, inspired by his life story and starring Cuba Gooding Jr., brought his story to a wider audience. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and support.

Frances was a member of Exodus Missionary Outreach Church of Christ.

Frances was preceded in death by her beloved sisters; Carolyn Stark, Ann Wilson, and Shirley Alford, as well as her dear son, Victor Tolliver. Though her absence leaves an irreplaceable void, her memory lives on through her daughter, Sandrina Tolliver, and her sister, Jinethel Baynes. Frances's extended family—including nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many close friends—will forever cherish her warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith.

Her final song was "Jesus Loves Me, Yes I Know, For the Bible Tells Me So"—a reflection of the steadfast faith that guided her throughout her life. As we remember Frances, we are comforted by the knowledge that she is at peace, embraced by the love she so freely shared.

To everyone who reached out, offered comfort, and consoled our hearts during this difficult time, the family of Frances E. Brown expresses their deepest gratitude. Your kindness and support have meant so much.

May Frances's legacy of music, faith, and love continue to inspire us all.

A service of remembrance will be planned by the family at a later date. Dirk M. Thompson Mortuary is serving the Brown family.
