Celebration of Life for Edward Gonder Fuller
For Edward Gonder Fuller, the fleeting moments between time and eternity – commonly called life ~
had their genesis in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was there that he was born on November 14, 1927, the
only son of the late Corene and Jarvis Gonder. The Omega chapter of this human drama was played
out in Hickory North Carolina on September 26, 2022. It was here that spirit and struggle came to a
peaceful conclusion at his residence.

As Edward's Manhood developed, it was incumbent upon him to master the academic lessons of the
classroom, as well as the stringent demands of subsequent life experiences and self-imposed standards
of excellence. In the process of doing so, he came to complete prescribed courses of study at Gibbs High
School, Florida and college, Bethune Cookman College (Bachelor of Science), Business Education
Master's Degree from Appalachian State University, and a Master's Degree from A&T State University.
During the summer months he worked at Blowing Rock Country Club and Hickory Country Club.

As Edward loved learning, he loved sharing that actively and effectively at Howard High school in
Monticello Florida, Howard High School in Monticello, Florida, Howard High School in Georgetown,
South Carolina, Rosenwald High School, and Maiden High School where he served as driver education
teacher and Assistant Principal. In 1982 he was the Co-Principal at Fred T. Foard High School. After
34 years in the school system, he retired.

Edward's Scholarship served him well in assigned and assumed posts, over a span of 49 years in
education. A significant measure of respect was earned by him, from those he interacted - with in many
stations in life. His membership listing included: North Carolina Teachers' Association, former President
Western Carolina Athletic Association, NAACP, Cooperative Christian Ministry Board, Omega Uplift
Foundation. The Robert Cayle Foundation board, North Carolina Principals' Association, North
Carolina Athletic Association, Connecting Links, Links Incorporated, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity (Delta
Nu Chapter), Omega Man of the Year, Sixth District Area Representative and Registration Coordinator.
The Perseverance which characterized Edward's final days was well rooted in his faith in God and a
sincere love for humanity. This sustaining dimension of his was first fashioned when he joined Bethel
Metropolitan at an early age in Saint Petersburg, Florida. When he moved to Hickory North Carolina,
he joined Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church where he served faithfully on many boards until
his health failed.

The Uplift which was brought to himself and others, during his lifetime and his insatiable appetite for
life and living are the rich legacy he leaves.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jarvis and Corene Gonder; his wife of 48 years, Marie
Moore Fuller and two nephews, James Karl Moore and Maxsonn Claythomas Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory; a devoted and special friend Ms. Carolyn Loritts of Conover, North Carolina; a cousin, Deborah S. Rutledge of Clearwater, Florida; a goddaughter, Mrs. Virginia Lee Graves of Falls Church, Virginia; two nephews, Marvin A. Moore (Martha) of Lathrup
Village, Michigan and Jerome C. Moore (Angela) of Durham, North Carolina; two nieces, Phyllis Moore Razeeq (Abbad) and Jacqueline Connor both of Washington, District of Columbia; special god granddaughter, Cameron Loritts of Miami, Florida; special friends Mrs. Burthel Hoffler of Winston Salem, North Carolina,  Mr. Paul Allen and Mrs. Vickie Scott both of Hickory, North Carolina and a special caregiver, Mr. Mark Parsons.
