Obituary of a Faithful Servant of Jesus Christ

Eleven days before her 87 th birthday, Reverend Mrs. Dorothy Lee Ramsey Brice peacefully received her crown for eternal life with her Savior, Jesus Christ.  Her spiritual journey began in her youth and her earthly journey ended Saturday morning, September 3, 2022.

She was born September 14, 1935 in Catawba County, North Carolina to the late Dewitt T. Ramsey and Mildred Danner Ramsey.  Being the baby of her three siblings, she was adored and fondly protected by them throughout her life.

Mrs. Brice was educated in the Catawba County School District and was a graduate of the Teamer Bible School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Late in her life, Dorothy Ramsey married her true love, the late Richard Brice.  She often testified how she prayed for a husband, and how God saved Richard from his sins and sent him to her.

Affectionately called Dot,  Dot-Dot or Aunt Dot-Dot, she loved her children.  Although she did not have biological children, she baby sat and helped rear so many children in the family.  Dot really enjoyed her role as a "second mama."  She instilled moral character and her veracious spiritual faith to her children.  Dot-Dot had a penchant for doing things out of the ordinary.  Her strong religious convictions and her deep-rooted love for God kept her life in check and she didn't mind helping you get your life in check.  Dorothy was a Prayer Warrior!  She was known to often pray you through your situation right on the telephone.

Dorothy enjoyed her job at Broyhill Furniture Factory for many years, and retired as a loyal employee.

She always enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends and her New Jerusalem Fire Baptized Holiness Church family.  Dorothy loved to worship and praise God.  She would always get in the Holy Spirit and get her "shout on."  The church was her refuge.  She faithfully served the local church and the district churches in many capacities until her health declined in the fall of 2011.

Dot was joyous when listening to and singing gospel songs.  She had a melodious voice.  Talking on the telephone, cooking, shopping, wearing fancy hats, high heel shoes and pocketbooks delighted her.  She always enjoyed telling a funny story about her experiences.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Ola Marie Yount  and Carrie Lucinda King and her beloved brother Clarence Freeman Ramsey.

Dorothy Lee Ramsey Brice was well-loved and will be sorely missed by her nieces and nephews; Ceglenda King Perry (Ronald) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Willie King, Jr. (Sonya) of Conover, North Carolina; Kathy Yount of Charlotte, North Carolina; Cynthia Yount Mitchell and Earl Yount, Jr. of Lenoir, North Carolina; Vernon Ray Ramsey of Tacoma, Washington; a host of beloved great great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and children whom she baby sat in her home during the 70's and 80's.
