Ms. Carrie Joyce Sullivan went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2022 following an extended illness. She was born April 21, 1950 in Gaston County, North Carolina to Bessie Lucille Williams Sullivan and the late Gus A. Sullivan, Sr. Carrie was 72 years, 8 months and 9 days old. She has received her crown for eternal life with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ms. Sullivan was a member of Morningstar First Baptist Church and retired from Shurtape Technology Textile Industry after more than 30 years of service. She was affectionately called "Hammer" by close family and friends. She was an avid soap opera and Western watcher. She loved to listen to Jazz music.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Jefferies; brothers, Mack Junior Sullivan, Grady Sullivan, MacArthur Sullivan, Gus Sullivan, Jr., Oscar James Sullivan, Blondell Sullivan, John B. Sullivan, and Jackie Sullivan.
Carrie Joyce Sullivan was well-loved and will be sorely missed by her daughter, Patricia Sullivan of Hickory, North Carolina; mother, Bessie Lucille Williams Sullivan of Hickory, North Carolina; three grandsons, Jamelle Jefferies and Antonio Jones both of Newton, North Carolina and Franklyn (Darlin) Jefferies of Kannapolis, North Carolina; four great grandchildren, Samyla Jefferies, Saige Jefferies, Matteo Jefferies and Elan Jones; sister, Sarah L. Carson of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Willie Sullivan of Hickory, North Carolina; aunts, Virginia Wilson of Hickory, North Carolina and Ethel Mae Davis of Shelby, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Walter / Gladys Memorial Chapel of Dirk M. Thompson Mortuary. Family visitation will be 1 hour prior at the Chapel at 1:00 p.m.
