Ms. Bessie Lucille Sullivan Williams peacefully
transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior at her residence on March 25, 2024 following a lingering illness. She was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina on February21, 1930 to the late James and Mary Lou Key Williams.
She was a blessed 94 years,2 months and 4 days old.
Ms. Bessie as she was affectionately called by all who knew and loved her, was a faithful member of Mount Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served in various capacities including Mother of the Church; member of the Maggie R. Hall Women's Missionary Society; Stewardess; Usher; member of A Willing Worker; member of the Intercessory Prayer Team as well as a member of the Culinary Staff and A Woman of Faith. Mother Bessie delighted in serving
the Lord and others.
Ms. Bessie loved to cook and enjoyed baking for the church, family, and friends. She especially loved working in the yard cultivating beautiful flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons; Gus Sullivan, Jr., Oscar Sullivan, Blondell Sullivan, John B. Sullivan, and Jackie Sullivan; daughter Carrie Sullivan; brothers, James Williams, Joe Williams,
Elliott Wilson, Robert Wilson; sister, Mary Wilson; step brother, David Wilson; step sons Grady Sullivan, Mc Arthur Sullivan and Mack Junior Sullivan and a step-sister Willie
Rea Wilson.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are her daughter, Sarah Carson of Hampton, Georgia and son, Willie L. Sullivan of Hickory, North Carolina; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Mae Davis of Shelby, North Carolina and
Virginia Wilson of Hickory, North Carolina; a special niece, Tina Booker of Hickory, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and cherished friends.
Celebration of Life service Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah AME Church 624 1st Street SW, Hickory. Family will receive friends at 1:30p.m. at the church.
Interment will be held at Southside Cemetery immediately following the service.
