Auncie Morrison Austin was born August 30, 1933 in Catawba, North Carolina to the late Bessie and Hubert Morrison, Sr.  She departed this earthly life on September 8, 2021.

Ms. Austin was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.  She was very active in the community.  She volunteered at rest homes, spreading laughter and joy to the residents.  She was a member of the "Rappin" Grandmas for more than 10 years.  She accompanied them doing many concerts and benefits.

Auncie worked for the Commissioner of the NBA, David Stern, for more than 30 years.  After relocating back to Catawba County, she worked and retired from Hickory Chair.

In addition to her parents, Auncie is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Austin; siblings, two brothers, Hubert Morrison, Jr. and Hubbard Morrison; Brenda Derr, Myra Hardy, Gail Gore, Cassandra Morrison, Mary Dawkins, and Chiquita Morrison; and Nephews, Jerry Cromwell and Junior Morrison.

She leaves to cherish fond loving memories special niece Auncie (Wendell) Holmes and nephew Louis "Frankie" Derr; many nieces and nephews, cousins, family, other relatives and friends.

Smiles and laughter fill the air

when we reminisce on all the times we shared.

Sad and feeling pain, but tears of joy

fill our eyes when we say your name.

A wife, a second mother, an aunt and a sister…

so many titles and so many things,

but the love you gave each one

of us stayed the same.

Your look, your smile, your touch

left an impression of love in our

hearts that will never change.

Although your journey here with us has ended,

We know your life has just begun

beyond that big blue sky

May your rest in peace.
