Obituary

Ms. Andrea Annette Davis won the battle to a lingering illness as she entered eternal rest from her labor, gaining heavenly wings on January 14, 2022 at Atrium Health System Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  Andrea was born to the late Sherman Edward and Mary Katherine Powell Davis, Sr. on October 21, 1963 in Catawba County, North Carolina.  She was 58 years, 3 months and 24 days blessed.

Andrea was employed by Corning.  She was a member of Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as a Senior Usher, assisted with youth activities during Vacation Bible School and a Sunday School teacher.  Andrea loved the youth of Hartzell and young people everywhere.  She enjoyed flowers, crocheting, watching football and basketball and was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler fan.  Andrea was a graduate of the class of 1982 of Hickory High School.

Andrea was hard working and was loved by all who knew her. She was always kind and showed compassion to everyone she met.  She loved her family especially her children who were her pride and joy.   Her family and friends affectionately called her "Fatso".

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janis Seay and her maternal and paternal grandparents Elijah and Mary Powell and Robert and Evelyn Davis.

Left to cherish fond loving and lasting memories are her sons, Benjamin Sterling Hoover of Antioch, Tennessee and Jordan Walls-Davis of Hickory, North Carolina; daughter, Jayla Walls of Hickory, North Carolina; brothers, David Powell of Hickory, North Carolina, Sherman (Regina) Davis, Jr. of Stony Point, North Carolina; sister, Sandra Davis of Hickory, North Carolina;  aunts Gail Powell of Statesville, North Carolina, Margaret James, Margaret Powell and Pauline Williams all of Hickory, North Carolina and Ruth Pearson of Lincolnton, North Carolina; nephews, Kenneth (Jessica Hill) Davis of Hickory, North Carolina; nieces Faith Davis of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Hope Davis of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina and Kiara Mayfield of Newton, North Carolina; god sons, Travar Hoyle of Charlotte, North Carolina and Tristen Withers Brandon both of Hickory, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
